Spent and still left
The home screen carries both figures: what the month has taken, and what is left — of the budget overall, and of every category.
An expense app has two questions to answer: what went out, and what is still there. Leftover shows your total for the month, what is left of the budget under it, and a leftover figure on every category.

What you get
The home screen carries both figures: what the month has taken, and what is left — of the budget overall, and of every category.
Set a limit per category once and every new month inherits it, while past months keep the figures they actually had.
The keypad is already open when the screen appears: type the amount, pick a category, done.

Privacy
Every amount, category and remark is written to a database on the device and read back from it. There is no account to create, no server holding a copy, and no sync — which also means nothing to breach and nobody to trust. Leftover never asks for SMS permission, so it cannot read bank alerts the way many expense apps do.
Leftover is free and supported by ads. They are served by Google AdMob and are the one thing in the app that uses the network. Read the privacy policy for exactly what that involves.
Questions
Yes. Every feature is included, nothing is locked behind a paid tier, and there is no trial to run out. Leftover is free and supported by ads.
Yes. Expenses, budgets and reports are stored on the phone and worked out on the phone, so the app behaves the same on a plane as it does on wifi. The only part that needs a connection is the ad banner, which simply does not appear without one.
No. Leftover never asks for SMS permission and cannot read your messages. Expenses are entered by hand, which takes about three taps. Plenty of expense apps do read bank alerts out of SMS, and it is fair to assume they all do — this one does not, which is what makes it possible to say the spending data stays on the device.
Yes. More than 150 currencies are built in, each formatted the way its own country writes numbers, and the phone's currency is picked up on first launch. Nothing in the app assumes one country.
It goes with the app. Because the expenses live only on the phone and no account holds a copy, uninstalling removes them for good. Export a CSV from Settings first if any of it is worth keeping.
Not at the moment. Leftover is Android only.
